From the London Times online:

http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/f...

Documentaries like American Soldier (an ambivalent portrait of a US army recruiter), American Teen (which follows four kids through senior year in a mid-Western high school) and, most astringently, Bigger Stronger Faster (a film about steroid use subtitled: “The Side Effects of Being American”, and the best thing I’ve seen here so far) suggest that the American Dream remains a potent national obsession, and that young people feel under intense pressure to make it a reality.

This is great stuff, every review says this movie is one the best at the film festival. Just between us meat heads (bears in some cases), lets take another look at Chris’s work. This is really Chris’s life work. I have spent a minimal amount of time with him, but after just a small amount of time with him you know here is a man who has spent his life focused on film. It doesn’t appear that Juice is what he is passionate about but rather film. In other words Chris has spent his life focused on trying to become a filmmaker. Chris is a graduate of USC film school then before his current role as an independent filmmaker worked for Sony pictures.

I guess what I am saying is here is a guy who focused his life around being a successful filmmaker. Chris has clearly achieved that! Really, screw the subject matter! Chris spent his life getting to this point. It’s a truly inspiring story. I do not think this story is complete yet!

Congratulation Chris.

With the ways the reviews are going, I'm going to need to ask Jim or Mark to get Chris' autograph for me.

In a few years, I can ebay it for a down payment on a house!

Seriously, though, I'm glad this film is getting the attention it deserves, and, I'm glad the first big documentary about performance enhancement was made by a level-headed guy, with a real look at steroids.

Having seen it I can tell you that any mention of the gym is very peripheral, and other than Mark nobody on the team is a "character" in the movie. Most anything showing the team is from nearly 2 years ago. It's really about much bigger issues. We're not talking about a reality show here.

Dude, I feel what your saying. but let's be honest, people are not going to change their ignorant, dumb-assed, preconceived notions because Chris Bell made a movie. How many people do you know that understand the passion we have for this game? They can't even comprehend why we are willing to sacrifice and kill ourselves just for the chance to train at a place like ST. And these are people who claim to know us well! You think Joe Dipshit is going to understand???

My point is that I have dreamt about training at a place like ST my whole life.

This is a long one but it really explains Chris' approach to the movie and how he explored the subject in a balanced way. It's not really a pro-anything movie. It's an anti-hypocracy movie:

He also calls Smelly fat.
